About Shanneen

I have always had a passion for learning and a curiosity about humanity. Raised in a small farming community in Saskatchewan, I moved to Alberta to discover the vast and diverse experience city life offers. I completed two Bachelor degrees in Science and Education in Edmonton where I taught for six years. I cherished my time as a high school teacher and counsellor, supporting the learning and relational needs of students. My love for psychology was reborn and I decided to pursue a masters degree with the hope of possibly becoming a psychologist.

Since making Fort McMurray my home I have worked in health care and education. In 2010 I achieved my goal, becoming a registered psychologist and have worked exclusively in private practice, which I love! I am both honoured and inspired by the courage and grace my clients bring to our work every single day. It is truly a beautiful gift to walk with them as they navigate their healing journey.

I  am strongly committed to health and well being and strive to discover new ways to live harmoniously. Swimming and running were my passions from a young age, and that passion spurred me to train for the World Masters Games, where I completed my first olympic distance triathlon. Later I discovered yoga and continued on to complete my 200-hour yoga teacher training certification to support my personal practice.

Yoga and many of the somatic based therapeutic trainings I’ve completed ignited a curiosity in meditation. After personally experiencing the benefits of a meditation practice, I enrolled in a 2 year mindfulness meditation teacher training certification program. I look forward to offering these teachings in the near future so that others may anchor their souls and live a more equanimous life.
